Electricity Bills: Color Codes Changing Again

The Regulatory Authority for Waste, Energy and Water (RAAEU) is reshaping the color map of electricity tariffs, aiming to clarify charges and risks for consumers.
The focus is on fixed monthly charge tariffs, which have been adopted by suppliers such as DEH, Protergia, and Enerwave. The RAAEU seeks to redefine the concept of a fixed price and ensure that bills are clear.
Changes include replacing the red color with light blue or purple for some tariffs, as well as introducing a cheaper tariff per hour from April for households. Orange tariffs and future implications are also being considered.
The new tariffs may include tiered pricing per consumption level, fixed prices for predetermined periods, or a combination of fixed and variable charges. Contracts will last at least 12 months.
The RAAEU aims to protect consumers from wholesale market fluctuations and maintain flexibility, depending on the consumption profile.
