A. Siikkis: Vehicle Sales Decline Due to Recalls

A significant decrease in car sales has been observed due to vehicle recalls, according to the President of the Car Dealers Association in Paphos, Andreas Siikkis.
In statements to the Cyprus News Agency (CYPE), Mr. Siikkis mentioned that several thousand vehicles have been notified for recall, not only due to TAKATA airbags but also for other issues such as fuel tanks and brakes.
The delay in the arrival of new TAKATA airbags has created problems for importers. Some companies are replacing airbags only in new cars, while replacements for used cars from Japan are delayed.
The Car Dealers Association has taken action towards the state to expedite the arrival of TAKATA airbags.
Mr. Siikkis expressed concern about the large vehicle stocks remaining in companies, creating financial problems. Vehicle rentals remain at a satisfactory level due to the tourist season.
