The Cyprus Theatre Organisation (THOC) participated in this year's Avignon Festival, one of the most important theatre festivals internationally. Marina Maleni, Theatre Development Officer of THOC, coordinated three panels on Democracy, Freedom, and New Voices, within the framework of the European Theatre Convention.

The discussion included prominent figures such as Milo Rau, artistic director of Wiener Festwochen, Mario Banushi, director and performer, Cláudia Belchior, artistic director of Centro Cultural de Belém, and Georg Häusler from the European Commission. Topics such as the freedom of creators, censorship, and the empowerment of new voices were discussed.

Data Tavadze, director and choreographer, spoke about the dangers faced by artists, while Serge Rangoni presented the Prospero New European Wave program. Heidi Wiley emphasized the importance of dialogue and cooperation.

THOC's participation in Avignon confirms its commitment to promoting theatre and strengthening international collaborations.
