Yorgos Lanthimos has announced that he will be taking a break from filmmaking after completing his film 'Bugonia'. The director stated that he needs to step away from filming after a demanding three-year period.

In an interview with Collider, Lanthimos expressed his need for a break, emphasizing that he has reached his limits after continuous film productions. He referred to the period after the success of 'The Favourite' in 2018, when he chose to consciously abstain from cinema for five years, moving from Greece to Los Angeles to prepare three specific projects.

The film 'Bugonia', a remake of the South Korean production 'Save the Green Planet' (2003), had its world premiere at the 82nd Venice International Film Festival, receiving positive reviews. The film stars Emma Stone and Jesse Plemons. The film will be released in Greek cinemas on November 6 by Tanweer.
