A new library has opened in Krikello, Evrytania, aiming to revitalize the village and attract new residents.

The village president, Takis Kontos, spoke to protothema.gr about his vision to develop the village, following the example of Fourna. The library recently started operating and has already received a positive response from the local community.

The idea to create the library was recently revived, based on an earlier effort by philologist Soula Florou. The opening ceremony took place on Sunday, August 3rd, with the participation of residents and visitors.

Sofia Dimopoulou, one of the leaders of the effort, stated that the library aims to cultivate literacy and create a pole of attraction for the village. The old post office space has been renovated and transformed into a welcoming library where visitors can read or borrow books.

The library already has 1,200 registered books and the collection is constantly being enriched. Antonis Beslemes has taken over the classification of books and the operation of the library. The goal is for the library to operate on weekends and holidays, but also to be accessible to anyone who wants to borrow a book.

Takis Kontos also mentioned efforts to attract new families to Krikello, as well as the creation of new jobs, such as the operation of a tavern or a bakery.
