British singer-songwriter Beth McCarthy discussed her authenticity and artistic evolution ahead of her headlining performance at the Fengaros Festival.

McCarthy, who started her career busking in York and rose to fame on The Voice UK, has gained international recognition, especially within the LGBTQ+ community.

Speaking about her international tours, McCarthy noted the incredible experience of seeing people know her songs all over the world. She also highlighted the unique connection that music creates, even when there is a language barrier.

Referring to the balance between humor and vulnerability in her music, especially on LGBTQ+ issues, McCarthy explained that she tries to convey her feelings while also wanting the audience to have fun. She stated that her EP, 'IDK How To Talk To Girls', was her most authentic work, as she explored her queer experiences for the first time.

McCarthy expressed her hope that her music will make people feel visible and that there is no single formula for being queer. As she characteristically said: 'a label should fit you, you shouldn't fit a label'.

In closing, McCarthy stated that she was excited about her appearance at the Fengaros Festival and expressed her hope that the audience would leave her concert feeling happier and more empowered.

Beth McCarthy will perform on Friday, August 1st, at 11 p.m. at Lumina Botanical Gardens in Kornos, as part of the Fengaros Festival.
