The president of the Louvre Museum, Laurence des Cars, has announced a major overhaul following critical reports of security lapses highlighted by a recent theft.

Laurence des Cars stated that measures have been taken to address security issues, including improved surveillance through security cameras.

The Court of Auditors criticized the museum for prioritizing prestige projects over security. Between 2018 and 2024, the Louvre allocated €26.7 million to maintenance and €105.4 million to acquiring artworks.

Laurence des Cars emphasized that the Louvre needs to be transformed into a 21st-century museum.
