Nicosia Named Europe's Top Cultural Destination for 2026

Nicosia has been named Europe's Best Cultural Destination for 2026 by European Best Destinations (EBD). The distinction comes from the annual EBD assessment, based on expert opinions and public participation.

Over 22,000 travelers from 131 countries evaluated the destinations, with Nicosia receiving the highest score (18.6/20). The organizers highlighted the coexistence of historical heritage and contemporary creation, the authenticity of the atmosphere, and the vibrant cultural scene of the city.

Special mention was made of the character of the divided capital and its Mediterranean hospitality. The Municipality of Nicosia thanked the organizations and citizens for their contribution.

The top ten also include the cities: Florence, Vienna, Leuven, Šibenik, Verona, Tomar, Rouen, Oxford, and Graz.
