Five Cypriot Buildings Nominated for Mies van der Rohe Award 2026

Five buildings from Cyprus have been nominated for the Mies van der Rohe Award 2026, one of the most important architectural awards worldwide. Established in 1987, the award honors the German architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and promotes quality architecture and sustainable development.
The Cypriot nominations include:
- The School of Tourism, Hospitality and Entrepreneurship Management of TEPAK in Paphos (Heracles Papachristou office)
- The Lempa Cultural Village (Spyros Th. Spyrou, Haris Christodoulou, Haris Solomou)
- The Restoration of the Municipal Market of Athienou (Socrates Stratis, supervised by Christos Pasadakis)
- The Regeneration and Configuration of the Historical Center of Agia Fyla (Socrates Stratis, Maria Hatzisotiroiou)
- The Thematic Route “Aphrodite” in Ineia (Agesilaou & Kalavas Architectural Workshop)
The selection was made by a judging panel, and the result will be announced in May 2026.
Mies van der Rohe is known for the phrase "less is more", a philosophy that defined his work and his approach to architecture.
