Kalliopi Charalampous on the Children & Youth International Film Festival

Kalliopi Charalampous, director of the Children & Youth International Film Festival, gave an interview to okmag, where she talked about her vision and the importance of the festival.

Ms. Charalampous emphasized the need for film education for children, especially in the age of constant contact with audiovisual media, in order to develop critical thinking.

She also mentioned the collaboration with Studio Ghibli and the screening of Hayao Miyazaki's films with Greek dubbing, highlighting the anti-war message of the films.

Regarding the selection of films, Ms. Charalampous stated that the best films of the year are selected, which touch the souls of children without being didactic, covering topics such as identity, acceptance and environmental awareness.

Finally, she referred to the expansion of the festival's activities in Cyprus and other cities in Greece, as well as the importance of cooperation with sponsors such as PPC (DEH), while maintaining artistic freedom.
