Jane Birkin's original Hermès Birkin bag, sold for €8.6 million, has been exhibited in Tokyo. The bag, a symbol of freedom and elegance, was acquired by Valuence Japan Inc.

The Birkin's story began on a Paris-London flight when Jane Birkin discussed with Jean-Louis Dumas of Hermès the need for a functional and stylish bag.

Its rise to prominence began in the late 90s, with references in popular TV shows. In 2015, there was tension due to allegations regarding crocodile skin sourcing practices.

The bag has been exhibited in museums such as MoMA and the Victoria & Albert Museum. Shinsuke Sakimoto of Valuence Japan intends to present it worldwide, honoring its cultural significance.
