RIK Honors Giorgos Mavrogenis with Event

RIK and the Mavrogenis Foundation successfully held a tribute event for cartoonist, journalist, and artist Giorgos Mavrogenis (1928-2019).

The event, held in the RIK Archive Hall, included the presentation of RIK's publication "Giorgos Mavrogenis, an artist faithful to iconic art" and an exhibition of cartoons.

The Director-General of RIK, Thanasis Tsokos, emphasized the importance of the publication and Mavrogenis' contribution to RIK through the newspaper "Satiriki".

The artist's daughter, Elena Mavrogenis, cartoonist Petros Papaetrou (PIN), the Director of the Library of TEPAK, Marios Zervas, and academic Mimis Sofokleous, who edited the publication, spoke about the artist.

Mimis Sofokleous mentioned that Giorgos Mavrogenis was a multifaceted personality who connected art with public life.

The exhibition includes sketches from 1975 to 1982, while Mavrogenis' works are being digitized by TEPAK.
