Dormition of the Theotokos: Celebrations Across Cyprus

The Dormition of the Theotokos was celebrated with religious devotion and splendor throughout Cyprus. Churches and monasteries in towns and villages were filled with faithful who honored the Dormition of the Virgin Mary.

At the great religious festival of Panagia Chrysospiliotissa in Kato Deftera, thousands of believers came to worship and leave votive offerings. Traditional products and delicacies were sold outside the cave.

The "Easter of Summer" was also honored at the Holy Monastery of Chrysorrogiatissa, in the Panagia community of Paphos, with a procession and a multitude of believers. BISHOP ARSINOIS-PAGKRATIOS wished that the faithful would be worthy to enter the Kingdom of Heaven.

Emotion also prevailed in other churches and monasteries, such as the historic Kykkos Monastery and Panagia Trooditissa.
