Kletos Ioannides Passes Away

Kletos Ioannides has passed away, leaving a void in the world of Cypriot literature. The Deputy Ministry of Culture expressed its condolences for the loss of the philosopher, researcher, and poet.
Kletos Ioannides was born in Moutoullas in 1944 and studied philosophy, religion, and social sciences in Paris, where he obtained a doctoral degree (1967-1974). He served as president of the Philosophical Society of Cyprus, the Board of Directors of the ENA Theater, and the National Society of Greek Writers of Cyprus. He was also vice president of the Cyprus Pen Center and directed the Summer Institute of Ancient Greek Drama.
He worked as a researcher in Paris, Athens, and the Center for Scientific Research (1977-1999). In 1986, his work "History of Modern Cypriot Literature" was published. He taught philosophy and aesthetics at Frederick and TEPAK Universities and was a scientific associate of the I. Monastery of Kykkos.
His writing is extensive and covers the fields of philosophy, poetry, religion, and oral history.
The Deputy Ministry of Culture emphasized that his death leaves an irreplaceable gap in the culture of Cyprus.
