Theodore Theophanous, also known as the "hairdresser," who is serving a life sentence, has filed a request with the Supreme Constitutional Court seeking a retrial of his case regarding the murders committed in Paphos in 2011.

According to his lawyer, Savvas Matsas, there is new testimony challenging the credibility of the main prosecution witness, Antonis Prokopiou Kitas. The Theophanous side has submitted five sworn statements, claiming that Kitas lied in court.

These statements, according to Mr. Matsas, contain facts that became known after Theophanous' conviction in the Court of Appeal. The life-sentenced prisoner's side disputes Kitas' claims, who had stated that Theophanous had confided in him about the murders. The decision of the Supreme Constitutional Court regarding the hearing of the application is pending.
