29-year-old Detained for Platres Fires β Denies Involvement
A 29-year-old man arrested yesterday by the Police was placed in eight-day detention on Sunday morning to facilitate investigations in relation to two simultaneous fires that broke out on Friday in the Platres area.
He was brought before a court in Lemesos, and according to reports, the 29-year-old was allegedly seen in the area where the fires broke out. He places himself at the scene but denies setting the fires. The court approved the Police request and placed him in eight-day detention.
The fires broke out shortly after 8 pm on September 26th, on the side of the road in Pano Platres, about 200 meters apart.
Approximately 200 square meters of wild vegetation were burned by the first fire, while approximately 20 square meters of wild vegetation were burned by the second.
