Chartsiotis: Mobile phones in prisons - a 'chronic problem'

The Minister of Justice, Marios Chartsiotis, described mobile phones in the Central Prisons as a 'chronic problem'.
Speaking on 'Proino Dromologio', he stated that the installation of a system for detecting and disabling mobile phones will proceed in two stages within 2025.
Furthermore, Mr. Chartsiotis stated that a bill is under legal review to criminalize the use and possession of mobile phones by inmates or staff within prisons, which will provide for a three-year imprisonment.
