Trinidad and Tobago: Bodies of 50 Infants and 6 Adults Found in Cemetery

The bodies of at least 50 infants and 6 adults were discovered in a cemetery in Trinidad and Tobago, police announced. The incident occurred in the town of Cumuto, approximately 40 km from the capital, Port of Spain.

According to authorities, the preliminary investigation suggests a possible illegal disposal of unclaimed bodies. Among the adults, four were men and two were women, with some bearing identification tags and two having undergone autopsy.

Police Chief Alister Guevarro described the incident as "deeply disturbing" and assured that the case is being treated with "urgency." Trinidad and Tobago is facing increased levels of crime, with 623 homicides in 2024.
