A patient being treated for Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD) died on July 28 in a hospital in occupied Nicosia. The disease is caused by prions.

According to an announcement, the patient was diagnosed with CJD on July 11. Funeral arrangements were made in accordance with international regulations.

Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD) is a rare, degenerative brain disorder. It is caused by abnormal proteins, prions, which destroy nerve cells. It is not transmitted through coughing, sneezing, or touching.

Symptoms include memory loss, dementia, and difficulty moving. There is no cure for CJD.
