Fatal Accident in Larnaca: 80-Year-Old Dead

An 80-year-old, Anastasios Michaelas, died in a traffic accident today in Larnaca. His vehicle collided head-on with a taxi on the Rizoelias – Kalou Choriou highway.

According to Spyros Chrysostomou, Press Representative of the Larnaca Police Directorate, the accident occurred around 11:10 a.m. on Thursday, August 28, when the car driven by the 80-year-old entered the opposite lane of traffic and collided head-on with a taxi driven by a 55-year-old Greek national.

Anastasios Michaelas, from Aradippou, was trapped in his vehicle and the Fire Service had to intervene to free him. He was taken to Larnaca General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The taxi driver, a 55-year-old Greek national, sustained fractures and is hospitalized. A preliminary breathalyzer test showed a zero reading. The Larnaca Traffic Department is investigating the circumstances of the accident.
