43-Year-Old Arrested for Factory Fire in Ypsonas

Police have arrested a 43-year-old former employee in connection with the fire that broke out early in the morning at a paper material management and storage factory in Ypsonas.
The arrest occurred after the factory owner testified to the police that the fire was due to arson and implicated the specific former employee, with whom he had disagreements. The suspect is expected to be brought before the Limassol District Court tomorrow for a detention order.
The fire was brought under control, but the scene remains cordoned off. During the fire, several houses were evacuated due to the risk of spreading. Citizens and firefighters were endangered by the gas canisters being thrown around.
The damage to the factory is extensive, and two residences have also been damaged. Police forces and officials from the Departments of Environment and Labor Inspection remain in the area.
The road from the highway to Ypsonas has been reopened, except for the section near the factory. Police advise drivers to exercise caution.
