Arrest and Warrants Issued After Larnaca Shooting – Gangs Under Investigation
One arrest has been made and three warrants issued following a shooting incident in Larnaca, near the Police Directorate. Authorities are searching for other individuals involved, using video footage.
The arrested person is a 48-year-old naturalized citizen, while the three wanted individuals are of Arab origin, aged 35, 26, and 20. Charges include conspiracy, illegal transport of explosives, threats, and participation in a criminal organization.
Minister of Justice Kostas Fytiris stated the government's determination to crack down on organized crime. Authorities believe the incident involves gangs and protection rackets, with possible rivalry between them. The possibility of providing protection is also being investigated.
Police sources indicated the incident involves settling scores related to protection of shops. Reinforcements have been called to Larnaca due to fears of new incidents.
