Police in Nicosia arrested two men, aged 57 and 27, in connection with a case of assisting a third-country national to illegally enter the Republic of Cyprus.

According to the police, around 7:30 PM, a 57-year-old resident of the Nicosia district crossed with a car from the crossing point at Agios Dometios. During the inspection, it was discovered that a 27-year-old third-country national was also in the vehicle.

The 27-year-old allegedly stated that he paid the 57-year-old to transport him from the occupied territories to the free areas. The 57-year-old tried to escape but was arrested. In his possession were found €7,500 and 15,475 Turkish Lira, for which he did not provide satisfactory explanations.

Both were brought before the Nicosia District Court, which issued a detention order for six days.
