Two Arrested for Stealing Parts from Buses in British Bases

Two individuals were arrested by the British Bases Police in Dhekelia on February 3rd for stealing parts from retired buses. The parts, valued at approximately €10,000, were intended for sale as scrap metal.

The arrested individuals, a Greek Cypriot and a Greek national, were brought before the British Bases Court on March 3rd and face charges of theft. They were discovered during a patrol outside a fenced area in Ormideia.

Deputy Assistant Police Director of Dhekelia, Police Officer Marcos Petrou, emphasized that metal theft is a real problem and that the Police are in constant readiness to combat crime.

During the arrest, a small quantity of Class A drugs was also found in the possession of the two men.
