Two Arrested After Car Chase in Lympia, Cyprus

Police arrested a 37-year-old man and a 39-year-old woman today in connection with a case involving negligent and reckless acts, dangerous driving, illegal possession and transport of non-taxed goods, and malicious damage.
Around 3:50 AM, police received information about a vehicle moving from the occupied territories towards the dead zone and then into the free areas near Lympia. When police attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver sped off, leading to a chase through the Idaliou, Pera Choriou, and Latsia areas. During the pursuit, the vehicle collided with two police cars. Police used firearms to stop the vehicle.
On the Nicosia-Limassol highway, the driver lost control and crashed into the guardrail. The driver tested positive for drugs. The vehicle appeared to be transporting tobacco products. Nicosia TAE is continuing the investigation.
