Dating App Meetups Turn Violent: Police Investigate Attacks

Police are investigating worrying incidents of attacks on individuals arranging meetups through dating sites. A recent complaint in Nicosia led authorities to young individuals allegedly attacking a 42-year-old.

According to the complaint, the perpetrators, wearing hoods, beat the 42-year-old immediately upon arrival at the meeting point. Cyprus Times reports that there have been other similar incidents, some of which were not reported.

Police have investigated at least two other cases in Nicosia, and similar incidents have been reported in other provinces. Citizens are urged to be especially careful when arranging meetings with unknown individuals.
