Cyprus Fire Service Reports Increase in Incidents and Fires in 2025

The Cyprus Fire Service reported an increase in incidents handled in 2025, according to data presented at a press conference. In total, the Service responded to 13,401 incidents, of which 7,154 were fires.
Chief Fire Officer, Nikos Logginos, stated that there was a 4.94% increase in incidents compared to 2024. At the press conference, in the presence of the Minister of Justice and Public Order, Constantinos Fytiris, the strengthening of aerial firefighting resources was emphasized in anticipation of the summer period, with Cyprus having a total of 13 aircraft.
Nicosia recorded the highest number of incidents, followed by Limassol, Larnaca, Paphos, and Famagusta. Wildfires account for a significant percentage of calls, especially after 7 p.m.
Mr. Logginos also referred to efforts to strengthen the Fire Service with personnel and equipment, as well as upgrading infrastructure, such as the construction of new fire stations and the creation of the Unified Coordination Center for Operations (ESKEPY).
Minister Fytiris stressed that strengthening civil protection services is a priority for the State, given climate change and increased needs.
