The President of the Republic has received reports from four state services regarding the devastating fire in mountainous Limassol. The reports document the events that led to the destruction of 100km of land and property, as well as the deaths of two people.

The reports come from the Fire Service, the Police, the Department of Forests, and Civil Defense, and describe shortcomings and weaknesses that were observed. Particular emphasis is placed on the reports of the Fire Service and Civil Defense, which had operational responsibility and responsibility for informing/evacuating residents, respectively.

Fire Chief Nikos Logginos presented the Fire Service's action log, while the other services recorded gaps in coordination and failures in evacuations and resident information.

The President will study the reports and may ask the Attorney General to initiate procedures for the appointment of an Investigating Committee. The causes of the fire are also being investigated by TAE Limassol, including the scenario of hunters' involvement due to disagreements.

Investigations are continuing into the circumstances surrounding the deaths of the elderly couple who were found dead during the evacuation of the Sylikou community.
