Warning! Scam with fake messages supposedly from EAC

The Police are advising the public to be especially careful regarding a scam involving emails falsely claiming to be from the Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC).

The Cyber Crime Sub-Division of the Police Headquarters has received reports from citizens regarding misleading emails appearing to originate from the EAC.

Specifically, the recipient is asked to follow a specific link to make an immediate payment of their electricity bill in order to avoid the possibility of service interruption.

The aim of the perpetrators is to deceive the public, specifically to steal banking data and money. The public is urged to be especially careful and not to respond if they receive such a message.
