5 Greek Cypriots Remain in Occupied Territories Despite Acquittal

Despite being acquitted by the "military court" on Friday, the five Greek Cypriots are unable to return to the free areas. Their IDs remain "detained" pending a possible "appeal" by the "prosecuting authority."

This concerns three of the five, as the two face an additional "trial" on other charges in the "district court" in Trikomo.

The "prosecution" has the right to file an "appeal" against the acquittal within 14 days. The "military court" in occupied Nicosia found the five "innocent" of "illegal entry" into a "military zone" and complicity, due to the inability to prove guilt and deficiencies in the investigation.
