New SMS Scam Impersonating EFKA: What to Watch Out For

A new SMS scam is attempting to deceive citizens by using the name of e-EFKA. Scammers are sending messages informing recipients of alleged outstanding social security payments, urging them to settle them immediately via a specific link.
The message states that payment must be made immediately to avoid additional charges or restrictions on insurance rights. However, the link leads to a website unrelated to the official e-EFKA website, indicating an attempt to electronically 'phish' for personal data.
Authorities urge citizens to be careful not to click on links included in such messages and not to enter personal or banking information. Public organizations never ask for sensitive personal data via SMS.
Tips to protect yourself from phishing attacks:
- Never give personal information (Taxis codes, e-Banking, card numbers, passwords) to strangers.
- Access websites of agencies and banks only through their official websites or applications.
- Check the sender's address carefully.
- Be wary if the message creates a sense of urgency.
Anyone receiving a similar message is urged to ignore and delete it. If in doubt, they can contact e-EFKA or the competent authorities directly.
