Kenan Ayas to be Transferred to Cyprus on September 8

Kenan Ayas will be transferred to Cyprus on September 8, following an agreement between German and Cypriot authorities. The request for Ayas to serve his sentence in Cyprus is before the Larnaca District Court.
Ayas' lawyers stated that their client is 'looking forward to returning to his second homeland, Cyprus.' They also emphasize that they will appeal the Hamburg court's decision to the European Court of Human Rights.
In their statement, the lawyers add that 'Kenan Ayas has never been accused or convicted of any violent crime' and express their confidence that the Cypriot authorities will release him as soon as possible, in accordance with Cypriot law.
