A disciplinary inquiry is commencing against Assistant Chief of Police, Michalis Katsounotos, following a complaint by Anna Aristotelous. The Minister of Justice, Marios Chartsiotis, confirmed the start of the process.

The complaint was submitted in June 2022 and concerns a scandal at the Central Prisons, where Mr. Katsounotos allegedly had conversations with a convicted felon. The case was investigated by Achilleas Aimilianides.

The case resurfaced due to the discovery of confidential documents at a warden's home, with Ms. Aristotelous and Athina Dimitriou being called for questioning. Ms. Aristotelous was suspended, prompting her reaction.

Ms. Aristotelous' lawyer claimed a connection between the case and Mr. Katsounotos, provoking a reaction from the latter's lawyer. Mr. Chartsiotis stated that he does not interfere with the investigation.
