Nicosia: Autopsy Shows Hanging as Cause of Death at Russian Embassy

An autopsy revealed that the death of the Russian employee at the embassy in Nicosia was due to hanging. The incident occurred on January 8, 2026.

Reportedly, the Russian side stated that it was a suicide and that there was a note, which was not handed over to the Cypriot authorities. The Cypriot police did not have access to the deceased's office.

In a statement, the Russian embassy referred to a "deep personal tragedy" and named the deceased as A.V. Panov.
