Limassol: Police Operation Targets Barber Shops, Businesses – 6 Arrests

A coordinated operation by the Limassol Police Department (ADE Limassol) targeted barber shops and businesses run by foreign nationals in the Limassol district, resulting in six arrests and several complaints.
During the operation, which took place yesterday, members of the Limassol Rapid Response Unit (OPE Limassol), in cooperation with various services, conducted inspections on 15 barber shops on streets including Ανεξαρτησίας, Γλαστώνος, Φραγκλίνου Ρούσβελτ, Μισιαούλη Καβαζόγλου, Ομονοίας, Χρ. Χατζηπαύλου, Γεωργίου του Α’ and Αποστόλου Βαρνάβα.
It was found that four barber shops were operating without a license, and a restaurant on Apostolou Varna street was also operating without the necessary permit.
Three foreign nationals of Arab origin were arrested for illegal stay in the Republic of Cyprus, while three foreign nationals of Syrian origin were also arrested for illegal employment. In addition, eight foreign nationals were reported for undeclared work, with total fines amounting to €26,800.
Two businesses were reported by the tax department for not issuing receipts.
Inspections are expected to intensify in the coming period.
