Limassol: Elderly Woman Guilty of Animal Abuse

The Limassol District Court found an elderly woman guilty on 10 counts of animal abuse. The case concerns the appalling living conditions of 11 dogs at the 77-year-old's premises.
The case began on 17/7/2020, following a complaint to the Veterinary Services. During a raid, dogs were found dehydrated, suffering from chronic diseases and wounds. One dog died despite veterinary care.
In a subsequent search, another eight dogs were found in appalling condition at the defendant's home. The court rejected the defendant's testimony and set the case for mitigation of sentence hearings in early September. The Public Prosecutor was Panikos Avraamides.
