Larnaca: Arrests and Investigations Following Shooting Incident

Investigations are ongoing into the shooting incident that occurred on Saturday in Larnaca. Authorities arrested three individuals during a raid on an apartment, where 8 military cartridges were found. The arrested individuals, aged 26, 28, and 29, face charges of illegal possession of explosives.

A 48-year-old naturalized citizen was also arrested while receiving treatment for injuries in the hospital, pursuant to a court warrant. Authorities are still searching for three foreign nationals of Arab origin, aged 35, 26, and 20.

The 48-year-old faces charges including conspiracy to commit a felony, illegal possession and transportation of a firearm and explosives, extortion, participation in a criminal organization, assault causing bodily harm, and weapons possession.

The Minister of Justice, Konstantinos Fytiris, stated that organized crime has become emboldened, and the government is determined to crack down on it.
