The Larnaca District Court has extended the detention for six days for five suspects arrested on February 14 by YKAN in connection with a drug trafficking case. The suspects are five men aged 39, 19, 19, 23, and 23.

Police are investigating seven offenses, including conspiracy to commit a felony, illegal supply and possession of controlled drugs, money laundering from illegal activities, and participation in a criminal organization. One of the 19-year-olds faces an additional charge of possessing a firearm.

A total of nine people were arrested, and separate cases were formed for the other four. Police are searching for a 20-year-old, the drug supplier, the recipients, and other accomplices.

Defense lawyers objected, but the court approved the extension of the detention for six days. The investigator stated that the release of the suspects would negatively affect the investigation and that there is a risk they could influence witnesses, destroy evidence, or flee.

In the operation on February 14, YKAN arrested nine people and seized 400 grams of cocaine, 150 grams of cannabis, precision scales, mobile phones, a pistol with a silencer, a firearm, €9,605, and three vehicles.

Investigations are continuing by YKAN Larnaca, and a financial investigation will also be conducted. According to the police, the detainees are considered drug dealers mainly in Larnaca and are not connected to other criminal groups.
