Cyprus: 3 Prison Guards Suspended Over Ring

Three prison guards at the Central Prisons in Cyprus are expected to be suspended following investigations into their involvement in a ring of illegal activities. The ring includes trafficking and distribution of narcotics, providing protection, and illegal gambling services.

The case involves a 37-year-old entrepreneur, her relatives, a convicted felon, and a 40-year-old individual. According to the Cyprus Times, the Director of the Prisons has requested further information about the guards.

During the hearing, it was mentioned that the entrepreneur allegedly bribed prison guards to ensure favorable treatment for the convicted felon with whom she had a relationship.
