Cyprus: 'SOS' App for Domestic Violence Victims

The 'ELPIS' immediate assistance app for domestic violence victims in Cyprus has been fully operational since July, under the supervision of the Police. The app allows women at risk to immediately notify the Police.
Currently, 24 women have access to the app, which operates 24/7. If they feel threatened, they can press the 'SOS' button, immediately alerting the Police, who will rush to the scene.
The 'ELPIS' app was developed by the Cyprus Telecommunications Authority and Cytacom Solutions Ltd. Ms. Evi Nikolaou is responsible for the program.
The operation of the app is an election promise of the President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides.
