The Supreme Court of Cyprus has ruled in favor of a former union employee who was dismissed in 2008 after reporting sexual harassment. The employee reported inappropriate behavior by a union official.

The union dismissed the complaint as 'unsubstantiated and false' and fired the employee. The dismissed employee appealed to the Labor Disputes Court, arguing that her dismissal was retaliatory and illegal.

The Supreme Court ruled that the union violated its obligation to act objectively, as the investigation was carried out by a body in which an official involved in the case participated. It considered the dismissal illegal and awarded €37,700 in compensation to the former employee.
