Cyprus: 10 Arrests During Sweeping Police Checks

Cyprus Police conducted sweeping checks across the island, leading to the arrest of 10 individuals for various offenses.

The operations, which took place overnight, included organized patrols in urban areas aimed at preventing criminal activities and ensuring public order. A total of 650 vehicles and 849 individuals were checked.

Among those arrested were individuals for theft, illegal possession of narcotics, and traffic violations. 40 premises were also inspected, resulting in 11 complaints.

During traffic enforcement checks, 282 violations were recorded, with 160 related to speeding and 27 to driving under the influence of alcohol. 336 alcohol tests were conducted and 19 tests for driving under the influence of drugs, with nine drivers testing positive. In addition, 15 vehicles were impounded.

Police operations continue with the aim of preventing and suppressing crime, as well as increasing the public's sense of security.
