Crete: Funeral of 16-year-old after fatal traffic accident in Sitia

Today is the funeral of 16-year-old Giannis, who died in a traffic accident in the Sitia area. The local community is shocked by the tragic event.

The funeral will take place today, Friday, at 2 p.m. at the Evangelistria Church of Sitia. Friends, classmates and residents of the area are expected to attend to say their final goodbye.

On the same day, the 16-year-old driver of the car, who was allegedly driving without a license, is appearing before the Justice. He faces charges of dangerous driving and manslaughter by negligence.

The accident happened when the car, carrying five minors, veered off course and crashed into a rock in the Erimoupoli area. Giannis was ejected from the vehicle and died instantly.

The administration of the EPA.L. Sitia issued a condolence announcement, expressing its grief for the loss of the student.
