Central Prisons: Inadequate Drug Rehabilitation Programs

Significant shortcomings are observed in drug rehabilitation programs at Central Prisons, despite the increased need. According to data from the Health Committee, the "Danae" program shows fluctuations (86 people in January 2025, 33 in April), highlighting difficulties in therapeutic continuity.
The "Lemvos" program contributes to the cultivation of social skills. The Director of Central Prisons, Konstantinos Konstantinidis, stated that many prisoners are involved in drug-related cases and efforts are being made to expand "Danae". Only 13 people have been enrolled in programs through the Advisory Committee until May 2025.
The Social Support Office has been launched. Tina Pavlou from "Agia Skepi" mentioned the overcrowding of therapeutic shelters and the inadequacy of "Danae" for chronic users. There are 50 requests for intensive treatment that remain unanswered.
