Katsounotos: Drug Purchase in Prison Under Investigation
Share on:

Disciplinary proceedings have begun against Assistant Chief of Police, Michalis Katsounotos, regarding alleged offenses during his tenure as director of YKAN. The next session is scheduled for September.

Reportedly, Mr. Katsounotos allegedly made a drug purchase from a prisoner inside the Central Prisons as part of an investigation into adulterated drugs. The action was taken following an international warning about drugs in prisons.

The defense argues that the action aimed to confirm the allegations and save lives. However, he allegedly failed to complete the required form for transferring the seized drugs to the State Laboratory.

The case is linked to the Central Prisons scandal and Anna Aristotelous. He is also being investigated for misconduct, as well as dereliction of duty.

Legal circles express surprise that no investigation has been launched into drug trafficking in prisons.
