Police Testify in Death of 14-Year-Old Stylianos

Two police officers testified before the Nicosia District Court regarding the suicide case of 14-year-old Stylianos Constantinou, which occurred in September 2019. The case involves 218 charges against 11 individuals, including his parents and officials from the Social Welfare Services (ΥΚΕ).

The charges against the father include physical and psychological violence, while the mother is accused of failing to report incidents of violence. Nine officials from the ΥΚΕ face charges of neglect of duty, with two of them already pleading guilty.

Police officer P.P. testified about an incident in 2010, where Stylianos' mother reported that her husband forced her to work on his farm. Sergeant A.K. testified about an incident in 2007, where the mother reported that her husband was hitting her. The hearing continues on March 6, 2026.
