Significant quantities of tobacco products and nicotine pouches were seized at Larnaca Airport, leading to 4 arrests in 4 days across 3 separate cases.

On August 8, 2025, officers from the Customs Department selected the luggage of a British passenger traveling to the United Kingdom for inspection. During the search, 70 cartons of 200 cigarettes and 40 packages of rolling tobacco (2 kg total) were seized, as they lacked the necessary markings and traceability codes. The passenger was arrested and detained for two days.

On August 10, 2025, an Indian passenger arriving from India via Qatar was arrested for possession of 419 nicotine pouches of 6.84g each and 40 pouches of 12.6g each. He was released after an out-of-court settlement with a payment of €900.

On August 11, 2025, two Turkish Cypriot passengers were arrested while traveling to the United Kingdom, as their luggage contained 75 cartons of 200 cigarettes each, without the required markings. Both were detained for three days.
