Complaint: Doctor Missed Daughter's Cancer Diagnosis

A father in Cyprus has filed a complaint against a pediatrician for alleged negligence in diagnosing his daughter, who was eventually diagnosed with advanced lymphoma. According to the father, the doctor provided incorrect diagnoses for his daughter's symptoms, such as chalazion, a viral infection, and staphylococcus, delaying the recognition of the lymphoma.
The father claims that the doctor, exploiting a loophole in the General Healthcare System (GESY), had registered his children with other pediatricians without their consent in order to increase her number of patients. This, according to the father, led to neglect and delayed diagnosis. He specifically states that in September 2023, his daughter began showing symptoms, but the doctor did not provide appropriate instructions for examinations.
The father has filed a complaint with the Health Insurance Organisation (HIO), emphasizing that he does not wish to take legal action against the doctor but wants to prevent similar incidents in the future.
