Fytiris: «We must build a system ahead of organized crime»

The Minister of Justice stated that combating organized crime requires a united front. «To get one step ahead of organized crime and deal with it, we need to join forces and utilize all information. Together, let's build a system that is ahead of organized crime, that is the goal and that is what we are doing,» said Mr. Fytiris.

The authorities are focusing on Larnaca, where, as part of an operation to combat organized crime, they proceeded with five arrests of Greek Cypriots. Among them is a 23-year-old SYOP, on trial for attempted murder.

The Police spoke of a criminal organization that receives money for protection and traffics drugs. Videos with large sums of money were found on the 23-year-old's mobile phone, while 1,050 euros, jewelry, mobile phones, two bulletproof vests and pistol replicas were confiscated. Two vehicles were also seized.
