Famagusta: Seizures of 'laughing gas' and tobacco products

Packages of controlled drug (nitrous oxide) and untaxed tobacco products were located and confiscated in the early hours of the morning by members of the Police and officials of the Customs Department, at three kiosks in the Famagusta district.

According to the Police, during a search of a kiosk, 101 unused metal ampoules containing nitrous oxide, a metal canister and 47 balloons were seized. The 41-year-old manager of the premises was arrested for questioning.

In addition, during searches of two other kiosks, untaxed tobacco products were seized. Specifically, 82 cartons of 200 cigarettes, 83 packs of 20 cigarettes and 19 boxes of 200 heated cigarettes were confiscated. An out-of-court notice was issued to the 30-year-old manager. In another kiosk, 48 nicotine sublingual tablets were seized and an out-of-court notice was issued to the 40-year-old manager.

The Ayia Napa Police Station is investigating the case.
